Get phone number from GSTN searches often overlook the most convenient source of all: the GST documents and statements your own business already holds. Every month the GST system produces records of your transactions with other registered businesses: suppliers’ invoices in your credit statement, electronic invoices with their structured data, and e-way bills for goods movements. None of them is a phone directory, but together they tell you exactly whom you trade with, and some of them carry contact fields filled in by your counterparties.
This guide explains what each of these records contains, where contact details may appear, and how to combine them with your own network to reach a counterparty.
The auto-drafted statement of input credit lists suppliers by GSTIN and trade name, with invoice numbers, dates and values they reported for you. It does not show phone numbers, but it is a complete, verified list of who supplied you. When you need to contact a supplier about a missing or wrong invoice, it gives you the exact GSTIN, invoice references and period to quote.

Businesses above the notified turnover threshold must report invoices to the invoice registration portal, which returns a unique reference number and a signed QR code. The structured invoice format includes fields for the seller’s and buyer’s phone and email. These fields are optional, but many suppliers’ billing systems fill them in automatically. Open the electronic invoice data or the printed invoice with its QR details, and you may find the seller’s phone exactly as their system records it.
E-way bills for goods movements record the supplier’s and recipient’s GSTINs, dispatch and delivery addresses, and transporter details. They do not carry phones, but the dispatch address shows which unit of a supplier sent the goods, and the transporter details let you contact the transporter, who will have the dispatch contact.

Your accounting system’s party master, purchase orders, quotations and email threads usually hold the phone you need. Match the GSTIN from the GST records to the party master; if the phone there is missing or old, the invoice data may fill the gap.

When the documents run out, the people around the transaction help: your purchase team, the transporter, the agent who introduced the supplier, other customers of the same supplier. Each knows a contact. Your GST records give you the precise identity to ask about, avoiding confusion between businesses with similar names.
The same approach works for buyers. Your outward supply statement lists the customers you invoiced by GSTIN, and the electronic invoices you issued may already carry their phone and email if your sales team captured them. When a customer disputes an invoice or asks for an amendment, these records give you the precise reference and often the contact in one place.

When you find a phone this way, update the party master against the GSTIN with the source, such as “electronic invoice, October”, and the date. Ask your own billing team to fill in your phone and email on your electronic invoices too; your customers will be able to reach you the same way.
They will not reveal the counterparty’s GST-registered mobile, and they only cover businesses you actually trade with. For new prospects, use published sources instead. But for existing suppliers and customers, your own GST records are the fastest, most precise starting point.
