Find supplier contact by GSTIN becomes a sourcing tool when you use the GST record to decide which suppliers are worth contacting at all. Buyers looking for a new manufacturer usually collect dozens of candidate names from directories, trade fairs, referrals and marketplaces, each with a GSTIN. Calling them all is slow. The public GST record holds several attributes that separate genuine manufacturers with a steady track record from traders, new entrants and inactive registrations, so you can spend your calls on a short, strong list.
This guide explains which GST attributes help with sourcing, how to read them, and how to approach the suppliers who make the shortlist.
Collect candidates from every source you trust: trade directories, exhibitor lists, industry associations, marketplace profiles and referrals from other buyers. Record each candidate’s name and GSTIN in one sheet. If a candidate will not share a GSTIN when you ask, that alone is useful information.

The public search shows the nature of business activities at the registered places, such as factory or manufacturing, wholesale business, retail business, warehouse or office. A supplier claiming to be a manufacturer whose registration lists only wholesale or office activity may be a trader reselling someone else’s goods. Traders can be good partners, but you should know which one you are dealing with.
The search also shows the goods or services the taxpayer deals in, with their tariff codes. Check that the codes cover the product you want to buy. A supplier of moulded plastic parts whose codes show only textiles is either outdated or the wrong candidate.

The registration date shows how long the business has been registered. Filing history shows whether it files regularly and on time. For a long-term supply relationship, an established registration with a consistent filing record is reassuring; a brand-new registration needs more checks such as a factory visit and trial orders.
The state code and addresses show where goods would ship from. An interstate supplier changes the tax type on your invoice and affects freight and lead time. Additional places of business may reveal warehouses closer to you. Note these for the commercial comparison later.

For shortlisted suppliers, use their own channels: the website’s contact or enquiry form, the sales number on their catalogue, or the contact named in an exhibitor list. A clear first enquiry gets better responses: what you need, specifications, expected quantities, delivery location and timeline, and how you found them. Ask for a quotation, samples and their standard terms.

Before placing an order, confirm the supplier’s identity on a call to a number from its own website or documents, verify bank details independently, and consider a visit to the factory address on the registration. For companies, the corporate registry adds directors and status. A small trial order lets you test quality and reliability.
Save each supplier with its GSTIN, the attributes that justified shortlisting, the contact used, the date of the enquiry and the response. When you source the same product again, the record shows who responded well and who to skip.
